Coca-Cola is launching a campaign beginning New Year’s Eve that will see its Times Square billboard flaunting a new “Refresh. Recyle. Repeat.” message.
The campaign is part of the company’s goal to recycle or reuse all cans and bottles purchased in the U.S., writes the Atlanta Business Journal.
Coke’s billboard is one of about 30 - including all the billboards on the surrounding three buildings - in Times Square that have switched to wind power. Coke’s switch alone is the equivalent of taking 75 cars off the road or converting 38 houses to clean energy for a year, according to the company.
The recycling theme will be brought directly to consumers in NYC’s
Bryant Park early next year. The Coca-Cola Recycling team will be in the park outside the New York Public Library’s main branch on Jan. 10 and 11. Pedestrians can learn about recycling, play trivia and interactive games, see items made from recycled bottles and learn what they can do to keep the earth clean.
The campaign is the latest example of Coca-Cola’s commitment to “live positively,” an operating philosophy that guides the company’s service to its customers, consumers and communities. A website, LivePositively.com, supports the effort.
